Cheyanne's First Day of School

Cheyanne had her first day of kindergarten. Now all my babies are off to school.

We wrote on each others hand to comfort each other while she was at school.
She thought of the idea, I thought it was perfect.
She is a lucky girl, she has three older siblings to look after her at school.
Bye, Bye Chey !!! She is not a baby anymore.

Preschool Felt Mosaic

Cheyanne had fun making this easy Mosaic.
We used a foam sheet, felt, glue and a pencil.
Cut the felt into small squares. Draw a picture on the foam sheet with the pencil.

Squeeze the glue onto the pencil drawing and add felt squares.

Button Buddies

Cheyanne and I had a blast making these button buddies. They are so easy and adorable.

We used large buttons, chenille stems, wiggly eyes and glue.

Thread the chenille stem through the button holes and glue on the eyes.
I made a spider using a button with 4 holes. I had to glue on the extra 2 legs because they would not thread.
I thought these would be great for Halloween.
Love these.

Kindergarten Survival Kit and Back to School Prayer

I thought this was a cute idea for kids starting kindergarten.

Kindergarten Survival Kit

The PENNY is to remind you that you are valuable.

The STAR is to remind you to always try your best.

The ERASER is to remind you that it is okay to make mistakes.

The TISSUE is for drying your tears and those of others.

The BAND-AID is to let you know that together we can make things better.

The CHOCOLATE KISS is to remind you that you are cared for.

The STICKER is to remind you that we always stick together.

I thought this was a great prayer for parents with kids going to school this fall.

A new adventure awaits
them as they prepare
for school.

Excitement for new possibilities
and fear of the unknown
mingle in their hearts.

Thoughts of achievement
and thoughts of failure
slow their footsteps.

Bless all children
this day, O God.

Give them inquiring minds
and discerning hearts.

Give them courage
to persevere
in all they undertake.

Give them the gift
of joy and wonder
in all things.

Give them laughter
and love to share
with all.

Give them protection
and safety as they
move out of our embrace.

And give them sure
and certain knowledge
of your unfailing love.

Inspiration is Everywhere

The girls and I love to paint. We saw a picture of this beautiful mat in catalog, and we decided to use it as an inspiration for our paintings.
We used poster board and acrylic paints.

Alien Finger Nails

Caity bought a nail polish that reminded me of aliens. So we painted alien faces on her nails.

I think that is something you do not see everyday.

I just used black acrylic paint to paint the face and covered it with clear nail polish.

Another Pencil Holder

I love looking in catalogs to get ideas for decorating or crafting. I love the Pottery Barn catalog, and in the newest one we received had this cool pencil holder in it.
I thought," Hey, we could make that" and we did. I know theirs is made of resin not real pencils but theirs is $19 and mine is made from left over things I already had.

I hot glued slightly sharped pencils to a plastic jar and then we spray painted it white.

If you are concerned about the points, just glue the pencils on the jar points side down.

Peace Sign Pencil Holder

Caity made this great Peace Sign Pencil Holder.

She painted a medium sized terracotta flower pot.

After it dried, she drew on a peace sign with a Sharpie marker.

Then glued on sequins with craft glue.

I think it turned out great.
